As well as having base narrow canines, this puppy also has a retained baby canine tooth. This means the baby canine didn't fall out when the adult tooth came through, leaving two teeth crowded together.

WHATS WRONG HERE?

Base narrow is where the lower canines are on the inside of the upper canines

🦷 Is your puppy’s lower canine tooth poking into the roof of their mouth?
It could be a condition called base narrow canines.

When the lower canine teeth grow too far inwards, they can painfully dig into the hard palate every time your dog closes its mouth. Left untreated, this can lead to chronic pain, ulcers, infection and even permanent damage to the roof of the mouth.

The good news?
When caught early, especially while puppies are still growing....
there are several treatment options that can often correct the problem and help your dog enjoy a comfortable, pain-free bite for life.
