Bringing a new puppy or kitten into your home calls for a comprehensive check-up to discuss your pet’s care, including diet, exercise, and any breed-specific concerns. We’ll discuss the essentials in pet care including vaccinations, parasite prevention, and the pros and cons of desexing.
For those pets over 8 years, we recommend more regular check-ups. These twice yearly appointments are important to detect issues early and intervene, to ensure continued quality of life.

Our standard consultation is 20 minutes long. This allows us the time to really hear and understand the issue that your pet is experiencing and work with you to tailor the best treatment plan and solution.
Our vaccination consultations are 20 minutes long. This allows us time to perform a full clinical examination on your pet and identify any issues. We also vaccinate and discuss their parasite prevention plan. If you have other pressing issues, booking an extended consult is recommended. This gives the vet time to adequately address all of your concerns.
We are so excited to meet new clients and pets that we make our new pet consultations 30 minutes long. This allows us to get to know you and your pet without the time pressure of a standard consultation length. The consultation cost of the new pet consultation is the same as a standard consultation.
We are so excited to meet new clients and understand how important it is to ensure we get to know each other a little better. To create the space for this relationship to develop we schedule 30 minutes for our new client consultations. These slightly longer consultations are charged the same as a standard consultation.
At Newtown Veterinary Clinic, we understand the different challenging behavioral concerns seen in the pet population. These issues must be accurately identified to allow for appropriate personalised management plans to address the problems. The consultations are 40 minutes long and require a pre-consultation survey to be completed prior to the appointment. Our behavioral consultation costs more than a standard consultation. Good on you for taking your pet’s mental health seriously!
If you have multiple questions and concerns that you have identified and would like to address with our veterinarians, please book an extended consultation. The extended consultation is 30 minutes long and allows for several concerns to be addressed within the one consultation. The extended consultation is slightly more expensive than our standard consultation.
Sometimes we need to see an animal several times with the same issue in a short period of time. Some problems take multiple visits to either get the management plan sorted out or the problem resolved. Our revisit consultations are 20 minutes long but are charged at a reduced fee to help you with the expenses.
